CONTROLLING GOPHERS, MOLES AND OTHER PESTS WITHOUT POISON

This workshop will give gardeners, farmers and landscapers non-toxic and humane tools for control of gophers and moles to keep the damage they do in check. Barriers ranging from gopher baskets to underground fence designs will be discussed. A lot of attention will be focused on attracting natural predators as well as examining the many types of gopher repellents such as noisemakers, drenches, animal urine and urban myths. A major portion of the lecture will explore various trapping techniques, live and fatal. The trapping section will introduce a new trap, the Cinch trap, which is more effective and humane. Ground squirrel strategies will also be discussed and a new repeating trap will be shown. Tracking techniques and animal identification and biology will also be presented. 

Thomas Wittman, owner of Gophers Limited (www.gopherslimited.com) has been a specialist in sustainable and humane gophers control (including other rodent pests) for many years, and is a favorite lecturer at garden clubs, vineyards, farms and educational institutions.
